Get the taste of the Bahamas at the home of the Banana Daiquiri at Travellers' Rest, West Bay Street, Gambier.

Established by Mrs. Joan Hanna in 1972, Travellers' Rest offers authentic Bahamian cuisine and tropical drinks, enjoyed as you relax on a breezy terrace and listen to the gentle sounds of the sea. Palm trees gracefully waving their branches create the perfect ambience for tropical dining and drinking.

Alternatively, you can sit in the air conditioned, colourful dining area, close to a well-stocked bar. The informal atmosphere and friendly staff give Travellers' Rest an ambience of a Family Island and it is hard to believe that you are only a few miles away from the hustle and bustle of Nassau.

Paintings, most of which were painted by local artists, adorn the walls and Androsia, the native cotton batik produced on the island of Andros, adds colour and vibrancy to the table settings and bar trim.

Situated on the Western side of New Providence, in the historic village of Gambier, Travellers' Rest is a favourite with both local residents and visitors alike. Mrs. Hanna has a fascinating guest book with comments from famous personalities such as Roxie Roker, Maria Gibbs, Sean Connery, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Julio Engesias, Sir Sidney Poitier , Flip Wilson, Diana Ross and many others.

Lunches at Travellers' Rest cost between $10.50 and $29.00 and dinners, which are served from 5.30pm until 10.00pm, average $13.50 to $31.00

Travellers' Rest is open from 11.30am to 11.00pm every day of the week.
